Tibetan Cashmere (Pashmina) |
![]() |
The finest Cashmere you will find, anywhere…Cashmere is a fine down-like fiber that comes from the cashmere (pashmina) goat. The down insulates the goat against the extreme cold in mountainous regions. The higher the altitude, the warmer and finer the down becomes. Tibetan cashmere is therefore the best available. We have a selection of Tibetan cashmere shawls in our Beijing Kempinski store. New designs for Fall 2008 have just arrived (pictured above). The cashmere is farmed on the Tibetan plateau and spun into yarn in Tibet. It is then handwoven into shawls by Nepalese weavers. A great deal of skill and a light touch on the loom are required to bring out the softness of the cashmere. We invite you to come look at and feel our shawls: the difference between a top quality shawl and lesser wool and blends becomes apparent when you feel a great shawl. |
