Handmade Tibetan area rugs by Torana

Handmade Tibetan rug "Fire" designed by Chris Buckley for Torana

Torana Tibetan carpets and area rugs are different: they have life and texture. This is because they are handmade at our own workshop in Lhasa using much better materials than you will find from most other manufacturers:

pure carpet wool: not blended with cheaper imported wools

hand spinning: making a yarn full of texture (versus dull machine-spun yarn used by nearly all other manufacturers)

hand-dyeing: dyeing wool in small batches which produces natural variations in color intensity, just like a classic antique rug

hand-knotting: Most carpets these days are woven or tufted by machine. A hand-made Tibetan rug is better because natural variations add life, as opposed to the monotonous regularity of machine-woven carpets.
