An overview of the weave styles and characteristics of Torana handmade wool area rugs

Tibetan

The traditional Tibetan knotting style, producing a heavyweight, dense and durable rug. Made from pure Tibetan highland wool Hardwearing
Very warm

Fine Persian

A high knot-count rug with fine texture and a medium-length pile. Similar to a classic Tabriz weave. Made with Persian wool blended with local Qinghai wool for a softer feel Hardwearing
Moderate warmth

Medium Persian

A tribal-style weave with medium knot-count and a low pile, similar to a Hamadan weave and to carpets from Northwest China (Xinjiang). Made with pure Persian wool Hardwearing
Moderate warmth

Modern

A weave style developed by Michaelian and Kohlberg for their modern/ abstract range. Knotting is similar to Tibetan rugs but lighter and softer. Mix of Iranian and Qinghai carpet wool Hardwearing/ Warm
