The Tibet Artisan Initiative is a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to helping traditional Tibetan craftworkers to create saleable items using both traditional and contemporary design at the highest standards. This provides much-needed income in rural areas in central Tibet. The TAI's handicrafts are sold through their well-known handicrafts center (Dropenling) in Lhasa. This Fall they are coming to Beijing and will be attending pre-Christmas bazaars from 22nd November to 7th December. This is a unique opportunity to buy genuine Tibetan crafts at Lhasa prices. The crafts that will be on sale include Tibetan dolls, Wangden carpets, shawls, small wooden items and more. Torana is proud to sponsor Dropenling Tibetan handicrafts in Beijing by providing logistical support. Please come along to the bazaars listed below and support Tibetan Artisans this Christmas season! For completeness we also list events, luncheons which TAI will be attending ... some of these may require separate booking or invitation - please consult with the organizers. |
