Tanva Tibetan rugs

Tanva is the name of Torana's own Tibetan rug weaving workshop. Visitors are welcome both at our weaving workshop site and at our shop in the old town in Lhasa.

You can buy and order carpets, which can be shipped worldwide. We offer free shipping within China. Call Norbu's Lhasa mobile 86-1398 9908681 or call our office and leave a message 86-891-6160001, or contact me (Chris Buckley - see our "Contact Us" page). Tanva is in Nam village, on the road between Lhasa and Gongar airport.

How to find the Tanva Tibetan Carpet Shop in Lhasa

The Tanva (Torana) Rug Store in Lhasa is located in the same courtyard as the Dropenling Handicrafts Center. It's a few minutes walk from the Barkhor (the main pilgrimmage circuit around the Jokhang Temple in the heart of the old town). Download our handicrafts map of Lhasa to help you.

Directions: On the east side of the Barkhor circuit, furthest from the entrance of the Jokhang Temple, locate the Makye Ame Cafe, situated on a second floor on a corner overlooking the Barkhor. Take the street that leads east by the cafe, in the direction of the mosque.

Walk about 250m until you reach the mosque (on your right). In the square in front of the mosque turn sharp left and go down the narrow alley in front of you. This leads to the courtyard where you will find the Lhasa Villages Handicrafts center. The Tanva Carpet Shop is next door to it.

Problems? Call Norbu at the mobile number in the sidebar.
